Becky! is a multi-featured 32bit Internet E-mail client.
You will find many useful functions which should be expected for an E-mail
software and some of them would be beyond your expectation!

Features:

- Windows Explorer like look & feel
- Multiple accounts management: You can manage multiple mail accounts up
  to 20, and switch to each of them quickly.
- You can do every operation, except sending and receiving, off line.
- Powerful text editor: Highly-functional text editor engine is incorporated
  for reading and writing messages. You do not need compromise in editing
  capabilities for E-mail software.
- Mail box management: You can create your own mail folders to put received
  messages in order. Also, you can define "Filter" definition to move
  messages to specified folders automatically.
- MIME compatible binary file attachment.
- Outbox: You can save composed messages you want to send later into
  the 'Outbox' . 'Deliver' command sends all messages in the Outbox of
  all accounts.
- Draft: You can save incomplete messages into the "Draft Box" for polishing
  them later.
- Reminder: You can send messages to "yourself"in order to remind some
  important (and forgettable) things.
  Those messages are delivered at specified date.
- Clickable URL and E-mail address: If URL or E-mail addresses are found in
  a E-mail message, it is displayed in different color. Double clicking URL
  lets the URL activate in WWW browser. And double clicking E-mail address
  opens a compose window for the address.
- Spell Checker for American and British English.
- Url-encoded messages which are posted from WWW form are automatically
  decoded when receiving.
- Voice E-mail capability. You can record and send your voice in GSM6.10
  wav format. Recipients need to use Window95 or NT4.0 to playback this
  format.
- View HTML mail. (MS Internet Explorer3.0 or higher is needed.)

* Important!

Ver 1.24 or later might not work on some old Windows95 system whose
OLEAUT32.dll is old. This file can be updated when you install MSIE3.0
or later, MS Office 97, or some other new MS products. So, if you have
trouble starting the Rebecca.exe try one of the following procedure.

- Install MSIE3.0 or later. You can uninstall it immediately because we
  only need the new version of OLEAUT32.dll and the system file would
  not be uninstalled even if you uninstall the application, I guess.
- Get Axdist.exe which Microsoft provides for updating those system
  files. This is available on our site.
  http://www.rimarts.co.jp/axdist/Axdist.exe

Please do the above ONLY WHEN YOU CAN'T START REBECCA.EXE. It won't
fix any other problems you find after you start the program.

* What's fixed in ver 1.26.05

- Fixed another buffer overflow bug.

* What's fixed in ver 1.26.04

- Fixed: Some illegal header data could cause buffer overflow error when
  replying.

- Removed HTML viewer restriction.

* What's fixed in ver 1.26.03

- Prohibited to create folders which contains "/" character.

* What's fixed in ver 1.26.02

- Worked around not only "con" but also "prn", "aux", etc. for the
  "concon" problem.

* What's fixed in ver 1.26.01

- Worked around Windows95/98's "concon" problem. (Windows has a stupid
  bug that when you try to access a file named "con", the OS freezes.)
- Fixed: Failed to decode uuencoded attachment when it specifies invalid
  file name.
- etc.

* What's fixed in ver 1.26

- Modified the program to treat the HTML messages which contain
  <SCRIPT><OBJECT> and <APPLET> tags as attachment files and not to pass
  to inline HTML Viewer.
   And if image tags in HTML messages indicate the image files, except
   JPG and PNG format, they are also treated as attachments.
   This way, we can avoid possibility of using UNISYS's patented LZW
   algorism indirectly. Because MSIE component which Becky! uses has a
   capability of viewing GIF files, although it is not clear that
   applications which uses external MSIE component really needs LZW
   license. We just wanted to avoid the possibilities as a precaution.
   Looking at the bright side, GIF files in HTML messages are mostly
   commercial banners and sometimes linked to external web sites. You
   will not have to view those unnecessary images when you are reading
   mail.

- Fixed several minor bugs.

* What's fixed in ver 1.25.09

- Fixed the bug that *original* file's <SCRIPT><OBJECT><APPLET> tags are modified when HTML file is attached.

* What's fixed in ver 1.25.07

- Fixed the security flaw with UUdecode.

* What's fixed in ver 1.25.06

- Invalidated "SCRIPT" tag as well as OBJECT and APPLET.

* What's fixed in ver 1.25.05

- Fixed a security hole with HTML viewer. If malicious ActiveX control
  or Java applet was sent with html messages. Viewing them with HTML
  viewer is dagerous. I fixed it to invalidate "OBJECT" and "APPLET"
  tag in html messages which are received.

* What's revised in ver 1.25.01 - 1.25.04

- Bug fix: Abnormally terminated on "Load Template" command on the
  messages opened from "Draft" box.

- Bug fix: Abnormally terminated when you open address book in certain
  environments.

- Bug fix: Abnormally terminated when you delete mail items in "Remote
  Mailbox" if your server doesn't support UIDL.

- The number of unread message shows up gray on the Trash box or the folder
  with "Ignore Unread" option. Otherwise blue.

- Some minor bugs are fixed.

* What's new in ver1.25

- Bug fix: Some old mail clients and servers send "year" with 2 digit.
  That causes problem in year 2000 because they may send "00" instead of 2000
  and Becky! wouldn't display date field properly. That problem is
  fixed.

- Bug fix: Didn't show error message when it failed to connect SMTP
  server.

- Made it to turn "Message Edit" mode off when you select another mail
  item while you are in "Message Edit" mode.

- Made it to show the number of "unread" messages (if any) right next to
  the folder names.

- etc.
